Meet The Artist

Piers Browne

Article text
Artists statement

Piers still responds emotionally to land and seascapes. His awe for subtle light and nature’s beauty , coupled with his impatience to show it, is undimished after 35 years at it. In ’09 he completes a series of large paintings in his ‘Screwing the earth’ series, and before that, while etching and painting landscapes in response to sheer beauty, he finishes two children’s books.

He has published 5 books with etchings therein: the latest, SONNETS FOR A SIREN, is privately produced in an edition of 20, costs about three thousand pounds each – & that is almost cost!
It is launched in the Spring of ’08. There are 21 etchings in it illustrating his own 27 sonnets, a work of 5 years. His penultimate book,‘The Glorious Trees of great Britain” took 15 years.

He has shown over 20 pictures in the RA Summer Show and had over 60 One-mans, from Malibu to Munster via Wensleydale where he truly gratefully lives. He is very happy to be on this new website with other etchers.

Piers paints and etches with as much ‘ferocity’ and love as ever!
