CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
This year’s exhibition takes place between
Saturday 1 November 2008 - Saturday 3 January 2009.
Over the past four years winter warmth has received a great deal of positive feedback and has showcased the wealth of artists, designers and craft makers in Scotland and the UK.
Building on the successful format of previous years, the exhibition will take place over two sites; theparkgallery, and the exhibition gallery of Callendar House.
The theme of this year’s exhibition will be print, in all its forms, as we are celebrating the 500th anniversary of printing in Scotland. We aim to highlight the diverse aspects of contemporary print making and the use of printing in applied arts and crafts, from UK artists. (www.500yearsofprinting.org)
Closing date for submissions is Monday 16 June 2008, but extended to the end of June for OUR benefit.
Selection is by a panel of staff including the Arts Development Officer and Visitor Services Manager who will view the images together as a power point presentation. At this stage we only need brief details about each artist.

RA SUMMER EXHIBITION 2008
The etching acepted in the RA is 'AFTER THE FIRE, STOKE COMMON, BUCKINGHAMSHIRE: JANUARY' Piers says; "It is about my 20th etching in the Summer Show - It is a two-plate print in STEEL and then a COPPER plate. It is a tricky one to print right as viscosities of ink, in this particular etching really have to be spot on to make the water 'work'. To make the Etching I did no drawings (perhaps some sketched notes) but made two oils on the spot in the gloom of inbetween showers winter sunset; but this made the chance to recreate the scene, re-draw the scene - which is not architectural so the opportunity is there wonderfully easy and exciting. It was especially the placing of the burnt black wood logs which helped the perspective along and dynamics of design most". Congratulations to Piers
Congratulations also due to Karen Keogh who is also displaying one of her wonderful images in the RA Summer Exhibition 2008
Galleries Magazine
Editors Press Release below
'printmakingonline.co.uk is a splendid new online gallery that has attracted the attention on some of the most distinguished printmakers working in Britain today.
They are enticed to showcase their best work on this slick new website because it is not just another shameless attempt to sell artwork but proposes to raise the profile of printmaking and to introduce the medium to a whole new audience.
The individually selected artists are all printmakers who are at the top of their profession and producing a variety of remarkable cutting edge prints at affordable prices.
Printmaking as an art form uses traditional methods and techniques, however, many of the artists profiled on the site are pushing back the boundaries of these techniques and producing remarkable images that could grace the walls of any home.
Anyone visiting the site will be astounded by the variety of the work on show. This illustrates just how flexible printmaking can be and that prints offer something for anyone, making them an ideal, affordable gift for a loved one, whatever their artistic tastes'.
