A Brief History

History of the web site

1993 - Whilst studying at the University of Brighton Catherine Sutcliffe Fuller started exhibiting prints. To survive she found opportunities through The AN (artists newsletter publication) magazine.

1994 - When she graduated from the University of Brighton the Internet was not yet established. Returning to her home town, York Catherine continued to approach local galleries, seeking out opportunities. It became apparent that Printmaking was a lesser known medium and not as easy to access galleries
Other fellow printmakers (Janis Goodman, Cath Brooke, Janine Denby, Clare Caulfield, Corinna Button, Piers Browne, Moira McTague …..) found themselves with the same issue.
Our sentiment ‘How can we improve the reputation of printmaking?’
We continue to exhibit and cross paths at private views etc

2007 - The internet has enabled Printmakingonline to promote printmaking and printmakers and to reach a much wider audience. As well as promoting printmaking the website has also allowed many artists to sell their work online and through ‘printmakingonline’ events such as one held at the LS1 Club in Leeds and GNAS, The Great North Art Show, Ripon.

Technology has given us greater scope to market ourselves professionally. The site was founded in Yorkshire and established by showcasing Yorkshire artists.

Due to accessibility the site has grown into a resource for advertising printmakers, printmaking, galleries and print workshops countrywide.

Today it operates as a data base gallery for promoting the interest of printmaking throughout the country. It seeks to support all artists in various stages of their career
